The Boulder Urban Farm is designed to integrate the natural landscape into the urban fabric of downtown Boulder. The project location is at the corner of Broadway and Arapahoe, adjacent to the Boulder Public Library, with the Educational Center building sited in the center of the property. The landscape element of the project includes a detailed crop rotation system, pathways and bicycle routes connecting existing paths to the new site design, and connection to the public park and library outside the site. The Educational Center structure was inspired by the deep connection to the landscape this project required, rooted into the ground and growing from the earth like the vegetive surrounding crops. The large stair, rooftop terrace, and connecting patios on the west facade provide opportunities for enjoyment of the structure and urban garden on a public and social scale.
