The Window Well basement bar was a remodel project to remodel the house’s basement rooms and transform an enclosed window well acting as a terrarium to a usable dry-bar. Deconstruction of the basements materials was methodically conducted to salvage anything that could be reused to finish the project or to send to a local materials salvage store. Sustainable materials used in this project were FSC lumber, environmentally responsible MCQ treated lumber, locally sourced drywall and concrete, salvaged doors and glass, and water based concrete stain. This project is the basement of Richard and Tessa McSwain’s house, so a tight completion schedule was not necessary. Completion time for remodel was about six months.
