The Conservatory Dance Studio, which moved into the Conservatory Building in 1994, was in need of moving the main studio office down to the ground level, and remodeling Studio Room 1. The studio room ceiling had been a dropped panel and was removed exposing the structural steel beams. New “light clouds” were installed with dimmable LED canister downlight, and a single fluorescent tube on top for indirect lighting. The main office was designed as a comfortable common space for waiting guests while providing sufficient workspace on the new desk. Sustainable strategies utilized were repurposing the old fluorescent fixtures and tubes, installing LED lights to reduce energy usage, and multiple light schemes to provide proper and adjustable light levels.
